How to locate and
install a Subaru radio
security code.

Code Instructions

A Subaru Radio has
ant-theft software built
into it.
If the car battery is
removed, or disconnected
for any reason, the radio
and DVD player will
not function.

When the battery is
re-connected and the
radio is turned on.
The radio screen will
show Code.

The security code is usually
found in the glove box,
either in the vehicle manual
or on a sticker on one side of the
glove box.

Radio codes consist of
4 or 5 digits.

How to Enter
a Subaru Radio
Security Code

Turn the key to accessory
position to power the radio.

Use the radio station preset
keys to enter the code.

Use the first radio preset
key to enter the first digit.
Press it repeatedly to find
the first digit.

Continue with the second
preset radio code button
to get the second digit.

Follow the same procedure
to find the remaining digits.

Pressing the preset buttons
causes the digits to rotate
from 1 to 9, and then

When you do not have
the Security Code.

Call your Subaru Dealer
they will be able to give you
the access security code.

You are given three chances
to enter the code correctly.

After three incorrect attempts
the radio will lock up and
prevent any further attempts.

You must then contact a
Subaru dealer for assistance.

They will require information
from you proving you own
the vehicle such as the VIN
number of the vehicle, which
can be seen through the
windshield on the dash.
